ACTION: President Josh Wilkey called the meeting to order.
MINTUTES OF MEETINGS OF 02/05/09:
The Minutes for the February 5, 2009 meeting were presented. John Brown made the motion to accept the minutes; Larry Grandey seconded, ayes carried.
REPORTS AND DISCUSSION:
Organizations Committee issues presented by Josh Wilkey. Motion by Judy Barton to approve Conflict of Interest Policy, seconded by Vicki Byrne, ayes carried.
Mileage reimbursement, at the Federal rate to Frankfort, and Registration reimbursement for Kassie Hauser, approved, on Motion made by Judy Barton and seconded by Vicki Byrne, ayes carried. Change of address motion approved, and authorization for DDM to purchase a Post Office Box, on Motion made by Larry Grandey, seconded by John Brown, ayes carried.
Economic Restructuring Committee issues presented by John Brown: efforts being made to enable Middlesboro to receive Main Street Certification or Designated Cities (certification?). Building Assessment/Evaluation: Applications have been sent out to businesses to gather information such as percent of empty store fronts on Cumberland Avenue, the percent of those that can be rented, the square footage of the store fronts, the rental costs of these areas, etc.
Design Committee issues presented by Judy Barton: some grant money must be spent by May 1, 2009: possibilities for spending the money include $1,000.00 on urns, several benches (8’ for $600, 6’ for $400). Motion made by Ann Maculia, seconded by Vicki Byrne, to approve spending CITY Grant funds for urns and other fountain bills, total of $6750.22 ($3,750.22 current bills, and approval of $3,000 to be spent in April), ayes carried. Judy announced the Redbud Tea would take place at the American Association Building on April 24th. The photo contest winners (?) for next year’s Redbud Calendar would be displayed, and 2,000 seedlings will be given away.
Promotions Committee issues presented by Kassie Hauser: April 18th is the PRIDE/Downtown Clean-Up Day from 9:00 a.m. to noon. May 2nd Bike Safety Day and Farmer’s Market Opening – crafters a part of the Farmer’s Market opening. Thanks to MHS Key Club for painting the Farmer’s Market stands. CGNHP and DDM will work together on window displays in store fronts on Cumberland Avenue promoting CGNHP’s Anniversary.
Reports were given by President Josh Wilkey and Kassie Hauser. Motion was approved to buy Kassie a ticket to the Chamber of Commerce annual dinner. Motion was made by Judy Barton, seconded by Vicki Byrne.
